I've dined here numerous times while passing through Grass Valley and the food and service are consistently great.

The menu has a good selection of items to choose from, including a number of gluten-free options. The staff is friendly and nice and I always enjoy the food. Leave room for some pie. :)

One word: yum. Okay, fine, a bunch more words:

From the moment we walked in, we knew we were going to love this place. Friendly, genuine, authentic service, delivered with positively delicious breakfast food. Nothing is overfussed, but cooked exactly how it should be. I had Bailee's scramble with avacado, potatoes, and jalapeños. Kids had fluffy pancakes, eggs, and bacon, and husband had biscuits and gravy.

Ok. These biscuits! So fluffy! And the gravy cooked with peppers so it had a unique flavor that was great without being too outside the box.

Top it off with servers and the owner greeting people by their first names and you know it's good.

Paulette's Country Kitchen is a great place to enjoy an amazing breakfast or lunch!

As you enter the restaurant, you'll past some area-made crafts for sale, go through another set of doors - this building started out as a bank, and morphed into a restaurant - where you'll be greeted with an "old school" blackboard that announces the daily specials.

Paulette's is serious about breakfast, as breakfast is offered any time the restaurant is open.  I'm serious about breakfast, and I'm serious about Paulette's.

I ordered the "Two Egg Breakfast," without meat, as I like to go "vegetarian" sometimes.  Yeah, right. You get your choice of toast, how you want your eggs cooked, and hash brown or country potatoes.  I made it simple, as I ordered eggs over easy, sourdough toast, and hash brown potatoes.  Such a yummy way to start out a busy day!
The photos show the wonderful presentation of the breakfast, and the breakfast tasted even better than the photos look.  Such a great breakfast!

Rather than ordering meat with my breakfast, I ordered an optional side dish of Paulette's gravy.  As I placed my order, I was surprised when my hostess, Launa, asked what variety of gravy I wanted.  I ordered breakfast, sausage gravy, but I could have had beef or chicken gravy if I had wanted.  I love it!!

I was simply "blown away" by the gravy, as it's one of the best bowls of gravy that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy.  There is so much sausage in the gravy that you don't need to order meat with your breakfast.  There is also diced peppers in the gravy, which is a new thing for me.  I commented to Paulette that her's is perhaps the best gravy that I've ever had, and she thanked me, and said it's her mom's recipe.

I had the pleasure to meet and chat with Paulette Rickard, the charming owner of the restaurant, and jane-of-all-trades, as she does everything from "meet and greet" and cashier duties, to working with kitchen and wait staff.  She and I had quite a conversation about restaurants, food, and beautiful Nevada County.  I complimented her on her gravy, and told her how I was simply "blown away..."

Paulette's gets a total five star rating from me, due to amazing food, friendly service, BOSS GRAVY, and a wonderful Grass Valley dining experience.

We found Paulette's on Yelp, and totally agree with the positive ratings . Food:  super delicious, especially the cinnamon roll....  to die for!  Great selection of items!  The scramble with eggs, potatoes, onion, avocado was absolutely wonderful!  Blueberry muffin was also amazing!

OMG!!!  I ordered a coconut cream pie for a birthday party. It was outrageously good!!!  The pie crust was like my grandmother made. Light and flaky.
Thank you, Paulette!!  Your pie was the highlight of our dinner.
